13. This assignment and the next two assignments are designed to help you refine the strategies you determined in the last assignment. The eventual goal is to determine your two best strategies for comparison. There are four parts to this assignment. Part 1: Develop as SPACE matrix for Coca-Cola. Use the free template found at strategyclub.com to help you complete this assignment. You should develop at least 5 factors of your own for each of the four areas. Do not use only the ones in the template or the ones in table 6-1, although some of them may be appropriate. You must explain your reasons for choosing those factors and the scores you give them. See Sanderson Farms for an example. Enter your estimate SP, FP, CP, and IP numbers for ONLY ONE competitor, even though the template says you can do other entries. Copy your space matrix results from the template and submit as a word document. List the strategic categories indicated from your Space matrix and then copy and paste your strategies from the previous assignment that correspond to those categories. ALSO copy and resubmit either your last assignment with the strategies you developed and the table showing them matched with their strategic category, or if you failed that assignment, submit a new table with your new matchings, not the one from your failed assignment. Do not submit both.Part 2: Analyze and explain your results by looking at the strategies suggested by your SPACE matrix compared to the same strategies you developed in your SWOT analysis. Your SPACE matrix will have a bubble for Coke in one of the four quadrants. Figure 6-4 in the textbook shows which strategies are associated with each quadrant. Look back at the previous assignment and determine which of your strategies, if any, correspond to the ones in Coke’s quadrant. For example if your SPACE matrix shows Coke in the Aggressive quadrant and one of your strategies from the previous assignment was a Market Penetration type strategy, write down that strategy. Do that for all the strategies listed in Cokes’ quadrant. Analyze your results by comparing the suggested strategy types to your strategies of the same types. If most of your strategies are in Coke’s quadrant, then you are probably on the right path. If most of your strategies were not in Coke’s quadrant, then you need to determine why. This assignment also helps determine which strategies are appropriate to use for further evaluation in upcoming assignments. If you have one or two strategies that fall outside Coke’s quadrant, maybe they are not worth pursuing. Part 3: Create a simplified BCG matrix for Coca-Cola using the template. Do not use the revenues from each of Coke’s divisions. Instead just put in one revenue amount for all of Coke for 2017. Since it is also the top firm in its industry, you will put the same amount in the second column as well. You will have to come up with a realistic growth rate to put in the third column. The resulting matrix will have one circle in one of the 4 quadrants. Note which strategy types are suggested in that quadrant and compare those suggestions to your strategies of the same types. Analyze the results further the same way as for the Space matrix.Submit both your Space and BCG matrix as a word document in D2Assignment 14Assignment
Due October 12 at 12:30 PM14. More matrices.a. Create a weighted scores, or IE, matrix for Coke using the scores from the IFE matrix and EFE matrix I provided, not you own, using the template. Analyze and explain your results by looking at the strategy types suggested in figure 6-10 compared to the same strategies you developed in your SWOT analysis and also compared to your results for the Space and BCG matrices. Do not worry that the intersection is not in one of the bubbles, only what box it is in. For example if the intersection is in box VII, but outside the bubble, you still look at retrenchment and divestiture strategies. Submit your IE matrix and analysis as a word document in D2L.b. Create a Grand Space Matrix for Coke. Use the template to complete this assignment. You only need one X axis and one Y axis number. Explain why you chose the numbers you did. c. Analyze your results again, but this time compare the results of the Space, BCG, IE, and GSM matrices against each other. Is there any one or two types of strategies that stick out? Submit your IE and GSM matrices plus your analysis as a word document in D2L.
Assignment 15Assignment Due October 17 at 12:30 PM15. This is a 4 part assignment, but submit as one in D2L. Part 1: Determine two strategies (not strategic types) you developed in your SWOT analysis (assignment 13) and confirmed by your SPACE, IE, BCG, and GSM matrices analyses that you think would be the best for Coke to pursue. DO NOT MAKE UP A NEW STRATEGY!!! You have to use two of your SO, WO, ST, WT strategies. They should be two strategies confirmed by the other matrices you have developed in your assignments to be the ones best suited for Coke to follow. Give at least a 100 word explanation of why you selected your two strategies. Again, do not compare strategic types, such as horizontal and vertical integration, but specific strategies.Part 2: Complete a QSPM using your two strategies from part one and my IFE matrix and EFE matrix, not your own. Use the template to complete this assignment. Enter the IFE/EFE information in the top part of the template in the green areas. It will automatically show up on the red QSPM portion. Be very careful to follow the example in table 6-5. Note that if you give an AS for one strategy, you must give it for the other. Also note that not all factors will get an AS score, just the important ones. Copy and submit your QSPM as a word document along with all parts in D2LPart 3. Write a recommendation as to what strategy you suggest Coke follow based on your QSPM results. This explanation should be at least 150 words. More is fine. Detail why you think they should follow that strategy, and how they would accomplish it. Your recommendation and how to accomplish it must be realistic, feasible, and have a time to completion. You do not have to come up with costs.Part 4. Describe what strategy Coke is actually following now (you have already looked up two strategies in assignment 11), but Coke may have more. Explain if you think they are following the correct strategies or if yours would be better and why (no minimum length, but it has to be convincing.). NOTE: It would be highly unusually for your and Coke’s strategies to be the same. Students usually have better ones.
