You have chosen your case to work on; Case #1, Case #2, or Case #3,now consider this question: what would be important to know about your offender and his/her offense to make a recommendation to the judge for sentencing (see the PSI illustration on pg. 56-69 )?
In your answer, examine what issues you need to be mindful of as you evaluate your offender’s risk assessment; i.e. danger to self or others, impact of crime on victim and community, punishment and deterrence, etc. Also, discuss how your input helps to give the court alternatives to incarceration, and may help keep costs down. Specifically, outline some of the ethical considerations you must attend to for both parole and probation.
