This means that if (like this week) there are 2 topics to choose from, there should only be 2 total Discussion threads.
Only ONE (1) very long thread for each:
ACTIVE and PASSIVE Insufficiency
BASE of STABILTY
What then follows the beginning of each thread is a great discussion.
If there is a thread that is already started, please do not start another one on the same topic.
Thank you for your attention to this.

THREAD 1: ACTIVE and PASSIVE Insufficiency
5823_F05_15A.jpg
Perform the following activities :
In a supine position, perform simultaneous hip and knee flexion. Note the amount of knee flexion obtained when the hip is flexed.
Assume a prone position. Align the thigh in anatomical position. Slowly flex the knee of the same lower extremity you had moved when supine. Note the amount of knee flexion motion present now that the hip is extended.
Was the amount of knee flexion more, the same, or less with the hip extended compared to knee flexion with the hip flexed?
Was the result what you expected?
Is this an example of active or passive insufficiency?
Which muscle(s) was (were) being lengthened simultaneously over all the joints they crossed when you moved through knee flexion with the hip extended?
What other examples of this can you find/discuss?
Discussion Guidelines
THREAD 2: BASE of STABILTY
Assume one of the following positions and analyze the stability of each.
How do the BOS and location of the COG in each posture change?
What effects do the BOS and COG have on each other?
On all fours (hands and knees)
Lying down
Kneeling
Squatting (on balls of feet)
Standing with feet together
Standing with feet apart
