The objective of this assignment is for students to describe the socialization of the child; focusing on the interrelationship of family, school, and community. SLO#1
Think about your own life using Bronfenbenner’s Ecological Model and create your own ecological model. Your paper will be a high-quality and deep reflection on your own childhood and the influences from each of the ecological systems: micro, meso, exo, and macro.
This paper will have 6 paragraphs/sections:
Paragraph/section 1: Include an introductory paragraph that explains Bronfenbrenner’s main idea for his theory and the purpose of your paper.
Paragraphs/sections 2-5: Each system will have its own paragraph. For each paragraph, name the system and a brief idea what belongs in the system. The main part should be the influences from each system in your childhood and HOW it has impacted you during adulthood. Please see helpful questions to guide you below.
Paragraph/section 6: Include a conclusion. In a paragraph, share how this assignment has changed your outlook on how a child is socialized. Now that you understand how the different systems directly impact ones’ life, how or will this change your interactions with others?

Microsystems
Use the following questions to help you analyze this system. As our experiences are all different you are not limited to these questions. You may add additional information, as you feel necessary.
For brainstorm:

What role did your mother play in your early life? single mother

Where did you play? usually swings or soccer on the fields

What values, morals, beliefs were you taught (either spoken or unspoken) and by whom?

Describe your elementary school environment and culture and the relationships between these people.
What other groups were you a part of (religious, sports, scouts, cultural, etc.) christian church, club soccer

Exosystems

Was there any influence from city or state government that affected you as a child? (consider resources that were available to you or were not available)

Macrosystem

Describe your culture (we are all part of the American culture), including predominant values, beliefs and customs.
How strongly do you identify with your race, ethnicity, and culture? (This could also include sub-cultures.) white, Portuguese
What was the social and political climate of the era? (Politics do impact everyone, think of your freedoms afforded to you living in America, the laws that are placed and the priorities of the country).
