Review attending companies as listed on Handshake.
2. Determine and rank in order of importance five (5) company representatives who you would like to meet and learn more about.
3. Identify current job openings within the company, and visit their company webpage to learn about the goals, products, and/or services.
4. At the fair, starting with the company on the bottom of your list, visit those company displays. Initiate a conversation.
5. Take copies of your resumes and talk to representatives from those five companies (you may do more)
6. Introduce yourself using the GNAP Model (Greeting, Name, Affiliation, Purpose)
7. Ask engaging questions such as:
“I’m interested in applying for the job of . . . Please tell me what you look for in successful candidates.”
“What do you enjoy about your work?”
“What achievements do you think will occur within the company over the next two years?”
“May I leave a copy of my resume with you?”
“How do you recommend that I stay in touch with you?”
8. Write a one-page paper about your experience that includes the following information:
List the representatives with whom you spoke
State what you learned from those companies
Identify how those companies align with your career goals
Conclude with what you learned about meeting with recruiters
