Most endeavors begin with the creation of a plan. Blueprints for building a house, a street map or GPS instructions for finding an unfamiliar address, a list of the necessary equipment for climbing Mt. Everest, and the steps for upgrading an ERP to the next version are all examples of planning. In this assignment, you will put into practice components of project planning.
Assignment Instructions
Option 1: For the IT project you will plan in detail in Unit 6, create a presentation explaining how schedule, cost, resource, stakeholder, and risk management will be performed. Use one slide for each topic. The second slide should be a summary of the project, while the first slide should contain the title of the presentation and your name.
Option 2: Find an example of a large IT project that took more than 6 months to complete, such as an ERP, CRM, financials, etc., deployment. You can ask current or past colleagues, classmates, friends, etc., for a project example or find one through web research. Create a presentation explaining how schedule, cost, resource, stakeholder, and risk management were performed. Use one slide for each topic. The second slide should be a summary of the project, while the first slide should contain the title of the presentation and your name.
Assignment Requirements
Format your presentation for a professional business environment. Including the title slide, project description slide, and at least one slide for references, the length of your presentation will be a minimum of 8 slides and a maximum of 10 slides. Use tables and figures on slides when they enhance the content of your presentation. Also, use few words on slides; only what is necessary to convey your key points. Explain the content of each slide in the “speaker notes” section, which appears directly under the slide editing area in PowerPoint®. The speaker notes for each slide should be 100–300 words. Refer to “Add Speaker Notes to Your Slides” from Microsoft support if you are unfamiliar with using speaker notes.
Place citations to references in the speaker notes and list references used on a slide or slides at the end of the presentation using APA formatting.
For more information on APA style formatting, refer to the resources in the Academic Tools area of this course.
