Autobiography with Lies
Write an autobiography that contains at least one significant lie. An autobiography is a story of a person’s life written by herself. Of course, most autobiographies aren’t supposed to contain inaccurate information, but to make this more challenging you should include at least one lie. When I say the lie should be significant, I mean that some falsehoods might not
have much impact on your life (for example, “I have two sisters” when you really have three)– whereas some lies might be much more meaningful to who you are as a person.
The whole story of your life could be fiction or incorporate any number of fabrications or exaggerations you wish, but whatever strategy you use you should try to make it convincing. Your purpose is to make this difficult for your reader to discover the inaccuracies. You will read these to each other, and we will try to pick out the lies or lie.
This assignment is presented so you can use your imagination through your writing while finding out about your fellow students. We will get to know each other. We will talk about how to be convincing. And we will discuss the difference among the following: Truth, truth, facts, fiction, lies, Lies.
