Time for some real-world agency rule-making experience. In our lessons, we learned about some of the regulatory activities of the FDA, CFPB, EPA, and FTC. Now, I want you to go find some actual proposed rules from each of these agencies and comment on them. To do this, you need to check out the Federal Register, the government’s daily newspaper, and locate proposed rules that are open for comment. It’s not hard, so I’ll leave it to you to figure out how to do it. Find one rule from each agency that’s open for comment and then comment on using the government’s comment submission system. Write something thoughtful and actually useful and then include in your assignment: (i) a link to the proposed rule in the Federal Register, (ii) the summary of the proposed rule from the Federal Register, (iii) the text of your comment, and (iv) the identification number of your comment. It may be the case that when you look up one of the agencies listed above, it doesn’t have any proposed rules open for comment at that time. If this happens, you are free to substitute any other agency and any other proposed rule in its place. Just make sure that you try those four agencies first and you have commented on at least four proposed rules. Link to Federal Register: https://www.federalregister.gov/ (NOTE: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUBMIT COMMENT ON GOVT WEBSITE, JUST INCLUDE IT IN THE ESSAY AND I WILL POST ON MY OWN), JUST COMPLETE STEPS 1,2, and 3. Each comment needs to be thoughtful and please review file attached with TIPS FOR COMMENTARY. Your paper must have a total of 4 lengthy comments (FDA, FTC, EPA, CFPB), preferrably from the register that is within the last week or so, with the format mentioned above ^.
