This assignment was made for me before, but the previous writer didn’t do the protocol and the qualitative/quantitative analysis. MUST INCLUDE PROTOCOL AND ANALYSIS. Please attach the protocol to the paper since it is also part of the assignment. I will be attaching the one I turned in to my professor so you can pick it up from there, and I will also attach the one that the previous writer made for me (protocol and analysis are missing). Here are the paper instructions.
Directions: A final research project based on a topic germane to the class (i.e., critical issues in Chicana/Latina Studies) will constitute a major component of your final grade. As such, in preparation for the aforementioned, the present draft assignment will be submitted in advance of the final and will require THREE parts; 1) a skeletal outline of your paper; 2) an overarching research question (RQ); and, 3) a protocol.
OUTLINE SAMPLE
In this assignment, students are expected to produce a draft outline, NOT a draft final paper. Please use the below outline as your guide for completing your draft outline. Developing your protocol may be the most difficult part of the assignment.
NAME: [add your name here]
TOPIC: What is your overarching topic? (Remember, it needs to connect to the class; “Critical Issues in Chicana/Latina Studies.” therefore choose a topic that is central to the impact of Chicana/Latina women.
RESEARCH QUESTION/THESIS: Now that you know your topic, what is a question you are attempting to find answers to or thesis for your research? For example, “What are the main factor that contributed to Chicana/Latina gender roles?”
INTRO: Jot down a few ideas about how you will introduce your topic. What is the significance of your study? Why should we care to hear about this topic?
LITERATURE REVIEW/BODY: This will be the bulk of your paper. Think about sub-topic that may be appropriate for supporting your main thesis or research question. For example, if your topic is about Chicana/Latina contributions during the era of social movements, your sub-topics might be geared towards:
historical cases impacting the Chicana community
a brief history of the formation of the Chicana movement
outcome and contribution of Chicana/Latinas
METHODS: In this section, you will now decide how you will complement your research with the collection of data. Yes, collection of data! It doesn’t need to be complicated. You can either decide to interview 1-3 people, or survey 10-20 people on your topic.
FINDINGS: After you’ve collected your data, this is where you will layout your findings. In this section you can project what you might find for the purposes of your outline.
ANALYSIS: After extracting the literature and laying out your findings, this is where you make sense of it all. In this section, you can jot ideas down on how you might provide a discussion related to what you found published by other scholars in the section above. In other words, this is where your own voice and critical thinking will begin to emerge NOT in the section above.
CONCLUSION: Wrap-up your ideas, but don’t forget to circle back to your original overarching thesis or research question. Stay away from the “so-what” factor. In other words, be compelling in your conclusion. You don’t want the reader to say “so what” about what you wrote after reading your research. Think about, why the audience should care about this topic and why is it important to write about?
WORK CITED: Jot down preliminary sources you might take a look at.
