There are 26 letters and 44 sounds in the English language. Researchers have proposed the idea of moving from word walls (with 26 letters) to SOUND WALLS (with the 44 sounds).
For this assignment you will:
Create a list or chart of the 44 sounds (with one word example to represent the sound) OR find an example of a 44 phoneme chart online.
Then write each sound on a sticky note with 3 examples of words that make the sound. (For example, for the sound F (FISH, PHONE, FUNNY) For the sound OO (SHOE, TRUE, BOO)
When you finish your post it notes, lay all the sounds out on a wall in the order of a SOUND WALL and take a picture of your wall to submit.
Before you begin, search for images of SOUND WALLS and save a picture of one you found online.
