1. Use a company you have worked for, or know about, and offer some examples of issues (there are six categories), so mention at least one factor for each of the 6 that may affect the firm. List the firm and industry it participates in and identify factors for each category of the model that management should keep an eye on or respond to.
2. In the two videos you should watch below, Michel Porter presents the only two ways to gain a competitive advantage. In addition to describing them, demonstrate how they might work with a specific example related to your selected company.
3) A good strategy may make some customers unhappy; explain why this might (and even should) happen, and offer an example not in our text or in the video of how a particular company has lived this concept out.
4. Five Forces Model: Michael Porter is known as the premier theorist on competitive strategy. Chapters 1-5 in our Rothaermel (6th ed.) text introduces the concepts of strategy, analysis and sustainable competitive advantage – Read Michael Porters comments on the Five Forces model attached.

5. Describe your company/industry. What aspects of Porters Five Forces seem the strongest for your company/industry? Which seem to be weaker (have little effect? Explain how the models mentioned in this discussion can be applied to your company/industry research project?

Offer a review of a trend you researched. How significant will this trend have on the future success of the organization? Describe the potential positive and negative effects. Do you see any effort by the company to anticipate and mitigate this issue?
