The National Security Council (NSC) is the President’s principal forum for considering national security and foreign policy matters. Members of the NSC provides critical information that advise and assist the President and to coordinate matters of national security among government agencies (The White House, 2022).
This week, students will create a PowerPoint Presentation for the National Security Council Meeting. For this project, students will imagine themselves holding a cabinet position on President Biden’s National Security Council. By being a cabinet member of the National Security Council team, the President of the United States and the American people are counting on you to provide a presentation that is accurate, timely, and actionable. That is, your PowerPoint presentation will inform and help guide United States foreign policy in the future so, ensure to bring your intellectual capabilities and acute analysis to the West-Wing of the White House.
Each student will select a position from the list of National Security Council Members below and developed a PowerPoint presentation directed to the President of the United States (the Chair of the National Security Council). In this PowerPoint presentation, students will assess the United States and China relations problem (utilizing contemporary events in explaining the issue) and provide recommendations in resolving the issue (go through a detail analysis in explaining the why should and how to).
In addition, as students prepare their PowerPoint presentation, they should consider the Four Pillars of International Relations. Remember, during the NSC meeting, the President of the United States is counting on you to provide expert analysis to the current problem.

Each PowerPoint presentation shall follow this format: Summary, Background, Analysis, and Recommendation.
Summary: identify the topic selected and explain how this is a problem in the international system [no less than 2 slides]
Background: explain how this issue has affected the United States and the international system by taking a historical approach and utilizing contemporary events (how as the U.S. responded to this issue in the past and etc.) [no less than 3 slides]
Analysis: based on your expert knowledge, what is currently working to solve the issue; what is not currently working to resolve the issue, what organizations and countries are working to resolve this issue, [no less than 2 slides]
Recommendation: based on your expert knowledge, what should the policy be going forward, in what way should the United States approach the international system in resolving the issue or should the United States go at in alone, are there going to be any pushback from other countries or the American people (and what are the reasons for the opposition) [no less than 3 slides]
