The main objective of the concept demonstrations is to demonstrate your knowledge of at least one social psychological principle or concept you learned about. You should demonstrate your chosen concept in a fun, unique, engaging, and novel way and show how that concept relates to the real world.
Step 1
Choose 1 psychological principle or concept from the following chapters:
Persuasion: So Easily Fooled (Chapter 9)
The Psychology of Groups (Chapter 10)
Conformity and Obedience (Chapter 11)
The concept can come from any of those 3 chapters. Have a look at the list of key terms (‘Vocabulary’) at the end of each chapter to help you find a concept.
Step 2
Demonstrate the concept in any way that you choose. Some suggestions include a short (but high quality!) video, a poster, an Instagram page, an illustration, art, etc. You are encouraged to think outside the box, so feel free to explore other options that are not presented here.
—
The concept demonstrations are worth 3 points each.
A sophisticated understanding of the concept (i.e., the information presented is accurate and up-to-date) –> 1 pt.
A high quality delivery of the demonstration (e.g., style, spelling, grammar, video quality, etc.) –> 1 pt.
An original and creative demonstration (i.e, the concept is thoughtfully and uniquely presented) –> 1 pt.
You can upload a word/pdf document, a picture, a website URL or a media recording in Canvas (make sure to double-check that the link works).
Please note that giving a definition/description of the concept or writing a paper on the chosen concept is NOT allowed. The goal is to make it fun, unique and engaging!
Also, don’t plagiarize! You are allowed to upload a video (or illustration etc.) from the internet but then you also need to cite your source and describe how the uploaded video/illustration helps you understand the chosen concept. Points will be deducted if you don’t cite and explain!
