Purpose: So, as we discussed, it is really not effective for me to present you with the current curriculum in K-12 schools as it relates to career development, but I do want you to develop some skills. If you have followed along in the module, you have already completed a good bit of this assignment. The assignment is designed to help you learn to navigate various resources to find possible career lesson plans, evaluate those plans in terms of their developmental appropriateness based on career theory, and determine what aspects of a lesson plan you appreciate. You will also gain experience in crafting a developmentally appropriate lesson plan for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Tasks
1. Elementary
Locate 4 career-focused lesson plans for the elementary years by searching various websites. Two should be designed for Pre-K through 1st grade and two should be designed for 2-4th graders. In each category, one should be developmentally appropriate and the other should be developmentally inappropriate. Please don’t pay for any of these lesson plans! There will be plenty of free resources for you to look at, and plenty of time later in your career for you to go shopping.
For each plan describe what makes it developmentally appropriate or inappropriate, using Super and Gottfredson to justify your answers.
For the developmentally inappropriate plan, provide a more appropriate age range for the plan.
