In the following scenario, you will identify and describe the roles a psychologist plays within law enforcement on a crisis team. Scenario: As a police psychologist, you are part of an active scene concerning the kidnapping and hostage situation of the city’s mayor and family. The only information that has been received about the kidnapper is that he is a former city employee and was terminated 6 months ago for stealing money from the city.
Your paper must address the following topics:
Identify and explain the various roles you would play in this active situation as a police psychologist. Some of the roles include but are not limited to hostage negotiator, providing a psychological assessment of the offender, etc.
What are some of the roles that you would complete at the end of the active situation (both at the scene and the weeks to follow) no matter the outcome. Some roles include but are not limited to on-scene counseling for officers involved, psychological services to the victim, counseling to officers during debriefing process, etc.
