A commonly cited business goal is profit maximization. Why is this not the most precise goal of financial management? Referencing a real-life example, why should a corporation not do anything and everything to maximize owners’ wealth?

Profit maximization is the increase of profits that a business firm uses as a Shaji to equal marginal revenue and marginal cost. in other words, it is the principle of what a firm should operate in order to make a profit. And this can be reached by charging more for products or services, but then reducing the cost of production and quality. When businesses make a goal of profit maximization, the goal is to cut down on costs and boost the sale values, but it can also lead to the decrease the sale values due to the cut down on product quality or production.
Profit maximization is commonly cited as a business goal. But if a business prioritizes profit maximization, it wouldn’t be able to focus on customer retention and the social and economic well-being of the company. This could also lower the quality of materials and ignores other factors that could benefit long-term value maximization. And if the production quality decreases, it could hurt the business brand, lower demand from customers, and give competitors the opportunity to steal the business products and make quality products to customer’s standards.
Then the reason for corporations, not to do anything, and everything to maximize owners. Wealth is because it encourages unethical behaviors and decisions at the expense of the companies long term sustainability.

Hello class,
Having a profitable business is something that every entrepreneur wishes to accomplish. Although profit maximization is important, it should not be the precise goal of someone’s company. A company should not do anything and everything to maximize owners wealth. The number one goal a business should have, is to make sure that the customer is satisfied, and continue to grow the business in the right direction. In order to grow a successful business you will need to keep investing and growing the business. You will also need to build a reputation and begin to have loyal customers. If people do business with someone, and all the business cares about is maximizing wealth it will be hard to develop a loyal set of customers. For example, lets say you are the CEO of a pharmaceutical company, and you are deciding whether to recall a new drug or not. Should you follow the law and make the decision that maximizes profit? Or should you take into consideration the health and well being of your clients? The ethical option would be to make sure your client is taking something safe. Having a reputation of caring for your customers is far more important than maximizing profit. People want to go to someone that they can trust, and not someone that is overly greedy for money.
