Decision Making Reflection
This assignment directs that you prepare your first formal business report for this course. It requires you to reflect on your personal decision-making skills, and hopefully better prepare you for your next decision-making opportunity as a mid-level manager.
In a formal business report:
First, describe a recent, major decision that you made either in your professional or personal life. This could be an individual decision that you made or a team decision that was made with you as a participant. Does not matter if you made or even agreed with the final decision of your group.
Next, reflect on how the decision-making process actually happened. You can use your textbook as a reference. Always look to add outside sources as references to further support your discussion and opinions. Ensure that you address each of the steps in the decision-making process, whether they occurred or not. Discussion should address the following:Which steps you believe people often skip or spend insufficient time on? And why?
Your recommendations for improving the quality of your individual and group decision making?
Then, describe the benefits and shortcomings of decision making in a group. Write a self-assessment of what you can do better to improve the quality of group decision making at your current job. If you are unemployed, describe the process at a previous place of employment. If you are a full-time student, then describe the process at a hypothetical company of your choosing.
Conclude with a summary of your key points, any opinions and your hard-hitting recommendations. End with an action-statement on your future decision-making skills at your current job.!
Guidelines:This assignment is considered a complete Business Case Study. Therefore, your report should be written as a formal business report of your analysis.
This report should be between 2-4 pages (not including title page and references).
Use font-size 12, Font Style Times New Roman for this report. And single-space each sentence. Do not use double-space.
Internal references (e.g. textbook, readings, lectures, etc.) and External references (e.g. other published works) should be used to add credibility to your business study.
Be professional. Eliminate spelling and grammatical errors and ensure that your report flows logically from one topic to the next.
Since this is a real-time analysis, write in the present tense to describe your findings and recommended actions (except when describing past events).
Current APA format is required. This includes your title page and reference page.Use Headings and Sub-headings to introduce new topics.
Exception: DO NOT include an Abstract or Table of Contents for this short report.
DO NOT cite any of your present company’s proprietary information. Use a pseudonym for your company’s name and key personnel that are mentioned in your written report.

Mandatory Considerations for Reporting Analytical Work:Always start with an Introduction of the business problem that you will be addressing in your report. (This can be difficult for this assignment. So, think it through.)End your Introduction with a brief summary of the topics you’ll be covering in your report.
State your intended reason for writing this report (i.e. to solve an existing problem; to present a policy change, etc.).
Consider writing your Introduction LAST. This will help you organize the contents of your Introduction.
Provide credible references to support your claims/Findings.Always cite the source when using someone else’s ideas!
Keep quotations short – only use as many words as necessary to support your claim.
Always discuss information BEFORE presenting a Table or Figure.Always reference a Table or Figure in the text, for example: “Table 1 below provides an assessment of…”
The Table/Figure should follow as soon as possible on the page (e.g. at the next paragraph break).
Do NOT just reiterate the data in the Table or Figure.Provide an explanation, meaning, and/or summary of the key points shown in the Table/Figure.
For example, state comparisons such as “research concludes that A is 32% larger than B” or “this trend has consistently increased at Amazon over the past 12 months.”
Keep Tables/Figure as concise as possible. Do not make the size of your Table/Figure excessively large. Do Not fill up the entire page with just one Table or Figure.
1/4 page is a good size. 1/3 of the page is the maximum allowed.
Use an Appendix for very large Tables and Figures.
Avoid breaking up Tables/Figure across 2 separate pages.
Don’t copy/paste-as-picture.
Always end your report with a Conclusion that:Briefly summarizes your work.
Highlights your key findings.
Ends with your overall recommendation and/or necessary actions,
HINT: As with all writing and speaking assignments, know your audience! For a business report, your audience is your boss/supervisor at your current company/organization.Due on Jul 8, 2023 11:59 PMHide RubricsRubric Name: Decision Making rubric
