Good evening my fellow slaves,
We have been slaves to this country from generation to generation, our enslavement goes back to 1619 where our people first aided the establishment and survival of the early colonies (Ponti, 2019). It is true that we have been seeing as nothing else than an inferior race to white men and that we are nothing more than slaves to this country, but times are changing which means war will come. Just the way our ancestors before us aided the early colonies, there will be a time when our support will be needed. I ask you to be ready for when that time comes because when it does we will be fighting not only for ourselves, but our family, our freedom, and our life. I know that some of the North white men see us the same way as those in the South, and you may ask yourselves, “why should we help”. I will tell you why, because we have something to prove to all white men and that is that we are equal and we deserve the same freedom as they have (Henderson, 2022). If we are to unite and support the white men, we will show them our true worth to this country, and they will not be able to deny the right for us to have citizenship (Black Civil War Soldiers, 2010). Please, stand fast and let it be known that we are ready for the next phase in our lives and that we deserve the same footing as white men.
