Discussion Topic for this Module: The purpose of these assignments is to facilitate reflection, discussion, and respectful exchange of arguments on the topics we are discussing. When debating a topic, keep in mind that our purpose here is to learn the different views and understand the arguments that people make to support them. Our purpose is not to decide who is right. We can leave the question of who is right for another day.
1. We have read three arguments about how to deal with global poverty. All of them agree that poverty is a problem and that it requires some response. Begin your post with a short summary of how each of the readings addresses the following questions: Who have responsibilities to respond to global poverty, what kind of responsibility is it (in both philosophical terms and in practical terms – what do they need to do? and what is the source of this responsibility? Notice that not all readings address all questions in an explicit way. If you can’t find the answer addressed explicitly, try to speculate what would be the answer that the authors provide.
