The Reading Response should concisely summarize the THESIS and MAIN ARGUMENT of the article AND provide original critical commentary for further reflection.
A strong Reading Response should provide a short summary of the reading with emphasis on its thesis and main arguments, and then develop an original argument based on their own critical and comparative analysis — this may include examples drawn from other sources but it must focus on a FILM SCREENED (OR MENTIONED) IN CLASS. Students should ask themselves about the relevance of the reading to the study of animation, what types of assumptions the author makes, and what their critical framework or methodology is in their approach to animation.
