My Top Discussions:
1) Music – why do you like K-pop? Select any K-pop track and provide some personal context and a descriiption of the music. Write what is important to you, which might be about the music, dancing, video, artist appearance, fashion, or other media connected to K-pop.
“One popular K-pop track is “Gangnam Style” by PSY. The song was released in 2012 and quickly became a viral sensation around the world, with over 4.6 billion views on YouTube, reaching number one on the music charts in many countries. The song is known for its catchy and upbeat electro-pop sound, which is characterized by its use of synthesizers and electronic beats. The track also features a prominent bassline and a catchy chorus that is easy to sing along to.
Musically, the track is written in the key of F minor, and it’s built on a repetitive chord progression of Fm-C-D♭-B♭. The track has a moderate tempo of around 130 beats per minute. The song is also known for its use of the “horse-riding” dance move, which involves imitating the motion of riding a horse, which became a viral sensation worldwide as well.
The music video features PSY performing the horse-riding dance in various locations around the Gangnam district of Seoul, known for its luxury shops and high-end restaurants. The video is known for its colourful and flashy visuals, which add to the song’s overall sense of fun and energy.
The fashion worn by PSY in the video is also memorable and iconic, with the sunglasses, colourful suits and the iconic bow tie. The video also features appearances from several other K-pop celebrities, adding to the song’s overall sense of fun and energy.
Overall, “Gangnam Style” is a great example of the catchy and upbeat sound that has come to define K-pop and it’s a great example of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) and the global impact of South Korean pop music.”

Your analysis of “WORLD” by Seventeen is impressive, breaking down the musical elements of the song. It’s clear that you have a great understanding of music theory and are able to put it into practice. Keep enjoying K-pop and keep sharing your insights!”
2. “Great post! It’s great to see you so enthusiastic about K-pop and music in general. Your experience discovering K-pop through a friend’s dance performance is a common one, as many people are drawn to the genre because of its high-energy, visually-stunning music videos. I also appreciate your insight on the unique blend of genres that make up K-pop, creating a sound that is truly one-of-a-kind.
