– You need to select a fiction story book to read to/with a class at the grade level of your choice. Then, you must adapt or create a science activity that relates to the story. The purpose is so that you can address standards for both science and reading to integrate these subject disciplines for your class.
– Obtain (Library check-out is fine) a science – oriented FICTION literature book (It must tell a story, Should NOT be a non-fiction trade book).
Be sure to list this book in your resource reference list.
– Prepare 5-7 questions for the student to answer during or after reading the book .
-Develop (adapt or adopt) at least one science activity that relates to the topic of the book

-Describe How the Data is to Be Collected and Communicated
– Design an assessment tool to provide you information about the student’s performance in acquiring new knowledge and skills as a result of this curriculum package.
– Write a Formal Lesson Plan including an overview of Scientific concepts/principles addressed, Scientific Process Skills Utilized, MSS-NGSS/CCSS and objectives addressed, answer keys, student pages, assessment(s), and references used in developing the project.
-If we were meeting face-to-face, I would ask you to bring in the actual “Kit”, Science Curriculum Package, within a sturdy, secure container able to hold ALL the contents.
1) For those of you who will not be student teaching or certified in the next year, you could have a single representative set or photo of the materials for the science activity to keep in storage, after this class, until needed.
2)Since we are virtual, a detailed materials list, copies of the guidelines, directions for students, labels, and all reference citations included in the lesson plan will document your work to share. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE MATERIALS FOR A PHYSICAL KIT.
-You will be expected to share your submission [the book (title, author, brief plot description) and activity (science concept, how it relates to story, assessment)} with the class.
– Do not use Wikipedia
– Please answer the data I sent you and write it in detail and in the guide line in order. This format is literally creating a lesson plan, not an essay format.
– Please use NSSA data for scientific data if possible.
