Let’s face it, we all want to belong to someone or some group. For this week’s assignment, be sure to view the week four videos.
<
<
The first is from the TED site by Brene Brown. Her presentation, The Power of Vulnerability is on the topic of belonging and the courage it takes to allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with others.
<
<
Next, watch the video titled, A Class Divided from PBS. This video is an experiment by elementary school teacher, Jane Elliott, who wanted to help end racism. Although this is not an experiment that we would use today you can also hear from her students after they became adults by looking at the PBS web site.
<
<
**In your assignment this week, write your reflective response (at least 200 words) to the videos and the reading.
<
<
Feel free to discuss your reflection on the videos as part of this week’s discussion on belonging.
<
What have you learned about relationships, belonging, or even about yourself in this class and from the videos that might help you with your relationships in the future? What lessons might apply to our current situations and events?

Remember to cite your sources, and in APA format.

Elliot. You can read more about her here: http://www.janeelliott.com/

This video is emotional for some, but I think you will find it to be worthwhile to watch. It is part of history and one woman’s desire to help end prejudice and encourage empathy among her students. Feel free to share your thoughts in your assignment.
