As such, your reflection essay on the question below should exemplify the zenith of knowledge you have gained on Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex from the time you began reading the play to the final thoughts presented at the end of day two of our seminar discussion.
Respond to the following reflection question:
Reflect on the following statement: “Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice.” Is Oedipus predestined to his fate, or does he have free will? Are these two ideas completely incompatible? Can Oedipus be held responsible for his actions, if his fate is predestined?

Introduction – Your introduction should set up the focus and purpose of your essay.
Body – The body of your essay should answer each question above in its own paragraph. Each paragraph should include a clear topic sentence, specific evidence or supporting details (see direct quotations & comments below), unity & cohesion, transitions between sentences & paragraphs, and a concluding sentence that ties the evidence or details back to the main point, bringing the paragraph to a close.
Conclusion – Your conclusion should be a restatement of your answers to the questions posed on the story. It should also summarize your beliefs on the stances made in your essay.
