One-Sample t-Test
This test is used to compare a sample mean to a
hypothesized mean. In this case, you will compare age of recidivism to a
hypothesized age of 25.
. Using the interpretation example on page 143,
Chapter 9, in SPSS for Introductory Statistics, to write an
interpretation of what you found in the output. You will not include a
table for this interpretation.
Independent Samples t-Test
This test is used to investigate the difference
between two unrelated or independent groups. In this case, you will find out
if gender differs significantly in regard to average severity of crime, violent
crime and level of education.
Using the “example of how to write about your
results” on page 147, Chapter 9, in SPSS for Introductory Statistics,
write an explanation of the results. Please include a table for this
interpretation. An example can be found on page 147.
Paired-samples T-test
This test is used to compare two scores that use
repeated measures, or in an intervention that uses the same assessment such as
a pre and post-test. In this case, you will examine the severity of a
first crime in relation to the second crime in the recidivism data set.
Using the “example of how to write about your
results” on page 151, chapter 9 in SPSS for Introductory Statistics,
to write an interpretation of the results. You will not include a table
for this interpretation.
Create a word document for the three analyses
and save the document and title it, “T-tests.”
