For this assignment, you will write a 3-4 page analysis examining an event from the media (in the news or in film or television entertainment) and/or from your own life using one of the theories discussed in class. This assignment is worth 100 points toward your final grade.
Specifically, you will select one of the several theories from the course and explain the theory or concept in your words, provide examples of the theory (from your life and/or the media), and explain how your example(s) illustrates the theory. In order to receive a high mark, you must be able to clearly draw a connection between the theory and the examples you provide.
Any theory application piece that does not incorporate specific examples will not receive a passing grade. Remember your examples can come from interpersonal interactions, group meetings, films or television shows, or other outside sources (newspapers, magazines, websites, etc.).
This assignment should:
– demonstrate a thorough understanding of the theory in question.
– be written clearly, free from spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors.
be thoughtful and legitimate.
– be organized. Provide a concise introduction with a clear thesis, and make sure that your arguments reflect your thesis. Your conclusion should briefly consider the importance of your findings. In other words, consider what you’ve learned from this assignment and from applying the theory to your chosen examples.
