A‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌ BUSSINESS REPORT STYLE .(this is a bussiness report)
This assignment should be based on the organisation that you work for, or if you are not
currently working, an organisation of your choice: preferably a previous employer or one
where you have or could access/gain sufficient knowledge.
choose a digitalisation issue/development to focus on that will enable you to
analyse the need for and impact of digitalisation on the organisation. This issue could be a
challenge/opportunity/project that the organisation has either faced in the past, is currently
‘live’ or is about to/has recently commenced. the issue/development chosen should
be transformational in nature, i.e. have fundamental and wide-reaching effects on the
organisation, to provide you with sufficient opportunity to analyse and reflect on some of
the issues covered in this module.
The overarching aim of this work is to execute a refined, but succinct, piece of coursework
that explores the different dimensions of digital transformation within the context of an
organisation. The report will be an academic piece of writing in a ‘business report’ style
(written in the 3rd person) and must make recommendations for further organisational
development.
For the assignment you will reflect upon the context of your organisation, strategy and goals
behind the development, the type and impacts of change and the manner of
implementation, issues around the alignment of technology, information management and
strategy, measures of success/failure, how these measures will be monitored and long-term
and plans and mechanisms for guiding development.
The topics of digitalisation and information management cover many issue and field but at
the core they are about identifying and responding to change and opportunity. Digitalisation
has had a dual impact: increasing and improving the flow of information and thus the rate of
change, whilst introducing technological changes that provides many new and unknown
opportunities for development. This assignment aims to assess: your understanding of the
issues around digitalisation and information management by reflecting on it within the
context of your chosen issue/development & organisation and; your abilities to analyse
scenarios, synthesise information, critically evaluate findings, draw conclusions and make
recommendations.

Guidance on the structure of the report/presentation
There is no required structure or ‘headings’ for yo‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌ur report – each assignment will vary
depending on the issue chosen to analyse and how that issue is analysed/approached.
However, it is recommended that you use some form of format and structure to help
present your findings and make them readable. The following guide may be helpful:

Introduction to your chosen issue
• What your report/presentation covers/says
• Why the particular issue was chosen?
• Relevance/importance of the issue to the organisation

Analysis
• Strategic perspective – Purpose and vision of proposed transform. How does it tie in
with organisational strategy.
• Motivation/aim for the transform – External and/or internal analysis used to identify
issue and formulate solution
• Current alignment of technology, systems and strategy – strengths weaknesses,
evaluation methods used
• A description of the resolution to the issue or developmental work
• Considered appraisal of the implementation or change involved – areas of business
impacted, key issues, approach.
• Aspects of the implementation – e.g. goals, monitoring, security, ethics,
sustainability.
