Watch the following TED video of Gordon Brown, the UK Prime Minister from 2007-2010, talking on global ethic vs. national interest and answer the following questions. As with the last assignment (and all assignments really), be concise, a few sentences or paragraph for each question will suffice, keep in mind some of these questions ask for your opinion, so quality over quantity – always.
Do you agree that global citizenship will not only become a reality (if it hasn’t already)? And do you think this idea will be able to confront the global problems today and in the future?
National Isolationism vs. Global Cooperation – With regard to environmental/climate issues, can you think of any pros and cons for being isolated versus cooperation?
Do you agree/disagree that current systems to deal with global problems are out of date and need to be reconsidered or rebuilt?
Does a threat to the environment/climate fall under Brown’s idea of “a responsibility to protect…the international community” – why/why not?
Do we have a duty to help other countries fight climate change?
This talk was given in 2009 – The world is different in 2022, do you think what his talking points are still relevant, valid, and/or attainable?

The speaker is Johan Rockström, the director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and a professor of environmental science at Stockholm University. He is an internationally recognized scientist for his work on global sustainability issues.
