Using the data obtained from the second administration, you will conduct the necessary analyses to determine your measure’s norms, factor structure, reliability (internal consistency), and validity. (Validity will be determined by testing your hypothesis about the link between the characteristic and the criterion.) Item analysis may be relevant to your measure, as well.
Writing Up the Paper:
After the analyses are done, you will write up a paper with the following parts (in APA format, of course): Introduction (Background on the trait and criterion); Method (How you developed the measure, piloted it, and collected data for reliability/validity analyses); Results (Item analysis, factor analysis, reliability, and validity analyses); Discussion (How well your new measure assesses the trait and predicts or correlates with the criterion).
