From the Outside Looking In: The Future of News Media From a Student Perspective
The Final Paper is designed to culminate your knowledge of the elements of this course while reflecting on the skills obtained in courses across the Journalism and Mass Communication program. You will consider how all facets of media must work together to efficiently and effectively deliver news to various audiences. Your topic will focus on the skills that media practitioners must possess that are not necessarily related to the practical skills of writing and editing. Rather, you will focus on analytical skills in regard to a socio-cultural understanding of audiences, an understanding of the economic constraints that impact media organizations, and how technology has and continues to shape the way we deliver news and how audiences receive it. In this paper you will consider the experience you had in your news teams to expound upon each of these areas.
