Find an image that features an intriguing use of color. This can be an ad, a photograph, an artwork, a poster, or any other kind of image. Analyze how the image uses color. How is color functioning in the image, and how does the choice of colors influence the meaning? Consider the following questions in crafting your analysis:
If the image shows more than one color, how do the colors relate to each other? Are they complementary or analogous? Warm or cool?
With what emotions or qualities are the colors associated?
Are there any cultural associations?
Why do you believe the artist chose those colors? What do the colors communicate to the viewer? In your opinion, do the colors succeed in helping fulfill the purpose of the image?
What would happen if the artist changed one of the colors? How would this change impact the meaning of the image?
