Process Paper requirements –
Paper must be organized using the 4 sections
as shown below. The entire paper should be a minimum of 9 paragraphs.
Include section labels, shown below in bold. THIS IS NOT AN ESSAY! DO NOT WRITE IT IN ESSAY FORMAT.
I.
Introduction (1 short paragraph with 2 – 4 sentences)
Identify research topic/issue, your
narrowed research question, and why you are interested in it.
II.
My Process (minimum 1 paragraph with at least 5 sentences)
In a paragraph, explain where you found
sources and the successes and problems you encountered. This might include how you revised your
question and must include where you found your sources.
III.
Sources (Must be a minimum of 6 paragraphs, 2 paragraphs
for each source. Follow the formatting
example that is provided.
For each of your 3 sources, begin with a bibliographic entry using APA
format. Also identify the category and
discipline for the information that you are using from the source. Note: a source probably includes more than
one discipline, only use evidence from your chosen discipline.
For each source paragraph, include 1–a
short summary of essential
information, 2- specific text evidence from the source, 3 – an analysis about why it falls under the
discipline, and 4 – an explanation of how it answers your question. (sample paragraph will follow)
In a
separate paragraph for each source, answer the question: why are your sources reliable?
(Extra credit:
List common terms and their definitions used by your sources.)
IV.
Conclusion. New understandings and future work (minimum 1 paragraph with at least 5 sentences)
In a paragraph, synthesize what you
learned about the topic that is important in addressing your overall question
and why your 3 disciplines are the minimum necessary to understand the
problem, issue or idea posed by your question.
Optional, but highly recommended — What other disciplines or sources do
you think would be useful in continuing to research and explore your question.
