Please write a 4-5 page essay in which you examine ONE of the following major themes in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein:
Science
Family
Nature
Education
Pick several incidents, moments, or scenes that you think are revealing about the theme you have chosen and discuss those sections of the novel. Please make sure to format any quotations that you use from the book correctly. Also, make sure to cite page numbers for both quotes and paraphrases. What is the novel ultimately saying about the theme?
Note: I DO NOT want an essay simple summarizing the book. Also, remember that you should write in present tense when discussing the events of the book.
Have a title that describes YOUR essay NOT the assignment I gave you. Be creative!
Please write using what might be called “plain” style. That is, keep your language as clear and direct as possible. You should also try to keep your paragraphs to about 4-8 sentences in length (not a rule, but just a suggestion).
This essay should be typewritten on standard 8 ½ -by 11 inch paper.
The essay should be double spaced with your name, the instructor’s name, the class, and date in the upper left hand corner of the first page. The title of the essay should be centered at the top of the first page. Do not include a separate title page.
Leave a margin of 1-inch on all sides (including the top and bottom) and use 12-Point Times New Roman as your font.
I’d also like you to include a title that describes your essay not the assignment I gave you. “Research Paper” is not a title!
