Please review the Case Below
To help you complete your assignment, you can refer to the ‘DIAGNOSTIC example – Larry’ in the Resources section of Modules (navigate towards bottom of Modules).
In addition to the diagnosis (diagnoses) on this case, you must provide a complete APA reference for an intervention for each diagnosis (diagnoses) for this case. These references must be empirical articles from scholarly journals (Literature reviews and theoretical articles are not acceptable). If there is one diagnosis than you will have one citation, if there are two you will have two…you get the picture. You do not need to provide a synopsis of the article- just the APA reference
Valentina
Valentina is a 26-year-old Puerto Rican female graduate student who was brought to the emergency room by ambulance. One of her roommates called her parents and the police after she came back from class hysterical stating her professors are communicating with the FBI and plotting to capture her and take her away. During the hospital exam Valentina appeared to be a poorly groomed and seemed inattentive and preoccupied.
She believes her brother who lives in Puerto Rico was killed by the FBI and has been replaced by an impostor even though she video chats with him weekly. She believes that she is gathering this information from tele‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌vision programs and commercials.
Valentina is also convinced that her roommates (she lives in a house with 3 other graduate students) and the campus dining workers are conspiring to kill her by adding a slow acting poison to her food, so she refuses to eat anything on campus and has lost 25 pounds in the last few months.
For approximately a year Valentina has been acting “strangely”, she quit seeing her friends and no longer seemed to care about her appearance or social engagements. She began wearing the same clothes each day and seldom bathes. She rarely speaks to her roommates and no longer calls her mother daily. Her roommates report that she mumbles quietly to herself and at times she seemed to be talking to people who were not there. She spends most of her time alone in her room only to emerge from her room and ask her roommates to be quiet even when they were not making any noise.
Although Valentina had much academic success in high school and as undergraduate student, her behavior had become increasingly odd during the past year. She has been missing class.
Valentina has no history of drug or alcohol use and her drug screening results were negative. She did not want to eat the meal offered by the hospital staff and voiced concern that they might be trying to hide drugs in her food. Her parents who met her at the hospital told the staff that Valentina’s uncle who was fine suddenly “went crazy” at age 22 and lost touch with the ‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌family.
