An informative essay is focused on one topic, and its purpose is to inform/educate the reader about an aspect of the chosen topic. Furthermore, an Informative essay also helps the writer become more knowledgeable about a topic of interest. A very important characteristic of an Informative essay is that it does not include the writer’s opinion; the writer is merely focusing on a topic and reporting all relevant information about it
In order to use the memoir we are reading in the course to the full extent, each student will choose a topic of interest that was mentioned in the memoir. The topic of interest may be derived from the themes, discussion questions, or current issue/news story. Again, choose a topic that is meaningful or of interest to you. You do not have to be an expert in this topic, so try to be adventurous!

Final Draft: 5/24/22. You’ll submit your final draft of the essay on Canvas on this date. All drafts must include a Works Cited page at the end of the essay.
