The focus of this course is to learn about how languages are learned. What we know about how languages are learned is based on empirical research that examines how particular groups of learners behave given certain conditions of learning and performance. So that you can get a hands-on feel for what it’s like to conduct research on language learning, you will prepare a mini-research project investigating some aspect of language acquisition. Then come up with a research question, state a hypothesis, design and carry out a small-scale experiment to test the hypothesis (6-10 participants are enough) and report your results.
