Read Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis in its entirety and write a 2000-word book review
essay about the text. You should start with a short, 500-word maximum, summary of the text.
You should then take the reader through each part of the text, analyzing what parts you found
helpful or unhelpful, what parts you agreed with or disagreed with, and what parts you think
were most central for Lewis’s argument. Papers must have an overall thesis that expresses your
final opinion of the book.
Please note that students are not guaranteed all 5 extra credit points just by turning in a
paper. Only an excellent paper can receive the full 5 points. If I am not able to tell that you have
thoughtfully read and engaged with the text, if I suspect you have only read part of the text, or if
I suspect that you have only read a summary of the text, the amount of extra points will be
reduced accordingly, potentially to 0.
