Prompt
(1) Choose a literary or narrative text. For this assignment, this text can be one of our course readings so far, but you may also choose an outside literary text from another course or your own reading (a story, novel, poem, or play). Please choose a short selection – not an entire story or novel.
(2) Then, choose any theoretical text that we have looked at in this course so far. Ideally, this will be a theoretical text that contains an idea or ideas you find relevant to the literary/narrative text you’ve chosen.
(3) Once you have this pairing, write a cohesive essay, with a clear main argument and a full thesis statement, that puts these two texts in conversation with one another.
Your essay must answer one essential question: What specific idea or concept does your theoretical text allow us to see or understand better in the literary or narrative text you’ve chosen? This will be your essay’s main claim/argument, and you will use details from the literary/narrative text and evidence from the theoretical text to defend this claim across the essay.
2.5-4 pages. 2.5 pages minimum, 4 full pages maximum.
DUE – Monday, April 25th, 2022, by end of day. Via Blackboard.
