It is your chance to share your thoughts about the articles you chose to read.
Here are some questions to get you thinking about what you might
include in this paper. Thoughtful, elaborate responses to just one or
two of these questions would make for a good reaction paper.
What were the most important things you learned from these articles?
What impact did the articles have on your thinking about the Organizing Themes of Adulthood?
How did the readings build on the knowledge you gained from class meetings and discussions?
Did you think about how information in the articles relates to your
own experiences or the experiences of people you know (family, friends,
community members, etc.)?
Did the readings make you think about connections to concepts learned in other courses you have taken?
Do not simply summarize the info from the articles. Focus on what was
going through your mind as you were learning from these sources. Please
write in the first person. I want to know about your thoughts and your reactions.
Please use the author name(s) when referring to a reading. For
example, you could say, “The article by Neugarten …” or “Ryan &
Deci made several points that stood out to me…” It is not necessary
to use APA citation format, and please don’t include a reference page.
Suggested length: About 3 – 4 pages
Format: Because I will be reading your papers online, I prefer the following:
Double-spaced
12-point font
Calibri, Cambria, Times New Roman, or something similar that looks good on a computer screen
Prepare your paper in Microsoft Word or your preferred word
processing application, and save it in a file on your own computer. Save
often.
Attach your document in the submission section below. For me to
have the best chance of being able to open and read your document,
please use .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pdf.
