(more details provided in Week 2)- Deliverable: 2-3 pages added to APA essay from Week 1 that includes overview of data results as well as a minimum of 3 specific needs for selected school.Instructions: To complete the Week 2 Practicum Assignment, you will need to identify available data from the CAASPP and ELPAC. Use this website to search: https://caaspp-elpac.cde.ca.gov/caaspp/Default.*Please note that due to COVID, some years may be missing data. Locate the most recent year that has data provided and use this year for your assignment. The data review must contain an overview of performance on standardized assessments, identify any trend data (by comparing past and present performance), and include at least 3 identified areas of need. Each area of need must include specific data that illustrates why you think this is a need within the school.In order to help you identify needs within the school, consider the following questions:Are any areas falling below state or national standards? If so, for how long (this identifies trend data).
Have any areas previously met standards but indicate that performance is decreasing?
Are there any student groups that seem to struggle within areas of assessment? How does this compare to most students?
How can this data guide your advocacy for equitable outcomes?

Step 3 (Week 3)- Conduct interview (or complete alternative) and summarize findings for an additional 2-3 pages (more details provided in Week 3)- Deliverable: 2-3 pages added to APA essay from previous weeks that summarize interview results, as well as an attached Appendix that lists the interview questions.Instructions: In Week 3, you are tasked with interviewing a school counselor or representative at your selected school. (note: this can be one of your former supervisors). ** If you are unable to conduct an interview, please complete the alternative to this part of the assignment.publish an interview guide (10 questions) based on your assertations related to your data analysis of the school reports. Your goal is to gain information as to how the school counselor uses this data to guide their programming. Here are a few examples of questions you may want to ask:How is the school addressing the needs you identified in your data review?
If they are not addressing these needs what is the current priority of the school?
What types of school or district assessments are being used to monitor or address student performance?
What is the role of the school counselor in the assessment process at the school site?
What is their role with interventions and how do they provide support to address achievement gaps?(Additional interview questions are provided in the attachment.)
Use this interview guide to learn more about the usage of data at your selected school through the interview or through the alternative. Once you have completed the interview, provide a written summary that will add 2-3 additional pages to your Practicum Essay.Alternative Instructions:If you are unable to conduct an interview, then please follow the instructions below. You will still need to provide an interview guide in the Appendix, but rather than check the answers with a school administrator, you will conduct additional research to look for alignment between the data you reviewed and planned actions. Step 4 (Week 4)- Synthesize material into a final essay a minimum of 6 pages (more details provided in Week 4)All of these steps align with the APA Practicum Template that has been created for you. – Deliverable: 2-3 pages added to APA essay from previous weeks that includes a final analysis summarizing insight from data review and interview results. Focus should be on equitable outcomes and how data can be used to support all students.Instructions: To complete the Week 4 Practicum Assignment, you will synthesize your data review and interview results into a final analysis that concludes your essay. This section is your opportunity to share your opinion as a school-counselor-in-training about the use of data at your selected school. You may want to include major insights you gained from the interview or alternative research. When you reflect on the identified areas of need, include a sentence or two regarding your opinion on interventions used at the school site. Is this sufficient? What do you think the outcome will be? How would you do it differently? This analysis should show thoughtful considerations of the data gathered and the information you learned in this course.The final deliverable is an 8-page APA Essay, including Title and References page, with 2-3 references.
