This paper is focused on “exegesis,” which means “pulling out.” The idea here is that you are to be meticulously, obsessively, and precisely dedicated to pulling out the meaning of what is in the text (as opposed to assuming beforehand that you know or automatically interpreting the passage based upon what you already think it is saying). You will need, therefore, to pay very close attention to the theological, literary, and grammatical subtleties of your passage.
