In determining damages for a wrongful death one method of calculating
damages is lost wages, i.e. the amount of money that the dead person would
have been expected to have earned over his or her lifetime. The result is that
the survivors of high earners, such as bankers, receive more than survivors of
low earners, such as waitresses. Do you think this is fair? Why or why not?
