EIDU EDUCATION OFFICER – CASE STUDY
Context:
At EIDU, we want to educate the world’s poorest 600 million children by giving them the world’s best digital learning content at their fingertips. Most of them are not achieving minimum proficiency levels in reading and math today. We have created a learning app for young children that works in the lowest-income areas where it’s especially hard to get the high-quality education that all children deserve. Our solution enables children to learn by themselves, at their own pace, at a fraction of the cost of other alternatives.
We’ve established EIDU in Kenyan schools with over 10,000 learners using the app and developed a training process that leads to over 90% of new teachers actively using the app every day after only one training session..
An EIDU EDUCATION OFFICER is proactive, responsible for training, coaching and the management of a group of schools in a chapter to drive activation, retention and improve the learning outcome of each child . An EEO is responsible for training the county ECD officers into the implementation of Competency-based curriculum (CBC) through Tayari Pre-Primary programme and also responsible for the activation and retention success of all schools in all territories.
The EEO role at its heart is to drive activation and retention of every school by training teachers and headteachers and providing intensive coaching and mentoring. Our current goal is for pupils to undertake learning activities for at least 2hours per day.
A school is considered “active” if it achieves this goal for an entire week, which means 10 hours of activity within a given week. The activation rate refers to the proportion of schools that have met this threshold at least once. Once a school becomes active for one week, we consider it as “activated” Our long-term goal is to maintain retention, that is the proportion of currently active schools compared to active schools at a previous point in time, at 95% (i.e. we want at least 95% of our school to continue using the app for a long time)
Below are a few questions we would like you to answer as part of our recruiting process. The assignment should take approximately 2-4 hours to complete and there is no right or wrong answer. The intent of the assignment is to give you a sense of the types of work the role entails and see if it interests you, as well as for us to see how you think. For all, kindly keep scalability and implications of cost in mind:
