Do the decadal experiment data of CMIP5 need statistical downscaling or not?

trying to forecast rainfall in decadal scale by using CMIP5 decadal experiment family data. GCMs have different spatial resolutions those cover more than 55 km ground distance (in Australia). I am interested to work in catchments scale. I can interpolate the GCMs output and can convert them 0.05 degree spatial resolution. But I am in doubt that, Is the interpolation is enough to work in catchment scale or I need to use statistical downscaling? Is there anyone who can help me by giving the better idea?
