formatting). You should write no more than 6 journal entries. Discuss the issues that appear in your novel. several issues early on in the journal, but narrow your focus to one issue in the last entry.

-you show how these issues affect your characters
-you discuss the author’s purpose as it relates to these issues
Depth of Thought 30 points
-you have good questions and comments about the issue
-you discuss why this issue is important and how you feel about it in ways that go beyond the surface (e.g. do not say “I think all people should be treated equally.” Rather, say something like, “I never gave much thought to the impact racism has on economics in our country.” Then, explain!)
Focus 10 points
-Your last entry focuses on one issue. You can discuss several different facets of that issue.
