You will research the chosen photographer and image, drawing on a range of web-based and/or print sources. Through your research you initially look at and describe the work. Then, through reading you will identify the work, establishing who made it, when and where. You will next analyze the work. You should use the ***Semiotics theory presented in your analysis to consider the cultural references in the image. You should also look closely at this images relationship with other works to compare it. You should name these other works provide an image and reference this accurately. Following this, you will interpret the work. This is the stage at which you take time to reflect on why it is different from other works that are like it, and comment on the factors that might have caused it to be different, – such as new technologies, economic constraints, the author’s intentions and the politics of the time. Finally, you will evaluate the work by looking into what people have said about the contribution this work has made to the discipline to which it belongs, as well as why it is important to society more widely. In your write up you will essay some of these ideas and combine their insights with some of your own. Be sure to make it clear which are your own ideas, and which are those of people you have read.
