You have been commissioned by the non-profit of your choice to analyze their existing mission statement and online presence. Once you have analyzed their mission statement and social media use, you find that you have one main objective that is crucial to starting this project: analyze and understand their existing materials. The non-profit then asks you to create sample social media posts that you think will better grab the attention of both donors and folks who may want to utilize the services provided by the non-profit you are working for. <
Part 1: Mission Statements <
For Part 1 of Module 2 you will be choosing a non-profit that you are interested in knowing more about (if you are not interested in non-profits, that is ok, please pretend to be for the purpose of this assignment, and I will help where I can). Specifically, you will choose a non-profit that has an existing mission statement and online presence. You will then analyze their mission statement utilizing the following criteria: <
Is it clear who this non-profit is intended to serve? <
Is it clear what they value as a company and as a non-profit? <
If it isn’t clear, what could they do to make sure there is clarity? (e.g. examples, specific words, clearly listed resources, etc) <
If it is clear, what specific moves/words/phrases/examples bring this clarity and what does this mean to you as a reader and researcher? <
Is it easy to read? Can you capture the main ideas within a single scan? <
How could they make their mission statement easier to read? What recommendations do you have for these moves? (examples such as bolded headings are well within the range of this question)<
Does their mission statement connect or relate to their online presence? <
If it does, how is their online presences utilized? (e.g. to communicate? To gain access to services?) <
If it doesn’t, provide a few sentences of explanation as to what you think the best approach for this non-profit to utilize a small portion of their mission statement to link users/donors to their services. <

Due Date: 10/8 by midnightPart 2: Social Media Plan<
Use your data collected from Part 1 to establish a social media plan that is either in line with the non-profit’s current social media content, or establishes a series of steps to create a social media plan for the non-profit. Things to consider are: <
What is the non-profit’s current online presence? <
What forms of social media does the non-profit currently use? <
What additional platforms could be added? Are there any platforms that you would consider as an “absolute” must? (examples can be but are not limited to: facebook, twitter, Instagram, snapchat, annual review letters)<
A brief (somewhere between 100-300 words) written analysis of the above questions that draws some basic conclusions (use the answers to the above questions as a starting point for this analysis)<
An equally brief plan of what changes you would implement if you were in fact the social media coordinator for this non-profit. <
A rough timeline for the roll of out content, that includes how/when you would implement changes with a 1-2 sentence rationale for these changes (consider things like new platforms, drastically new content, important dates to remember as the items that would require the rationale) <

Part 3: Social Media Posts <
Create 10 total social media posts for a non-profit. You have a plan established for a non-profit, see what aspects you may have to change or adjust when you starting creating your mock posts. In these posts consider the following: <
You can use one idea and have that idea contextually appropriate for 5 different platforms (for example 140 characters for twitter, but a picture for Instagram) <
You can stay relatively true to whatever your social media plan is, no matter the non-profit. You may still end up drawing from your specific Part 2 plan, though you may not be focusing on the non-profit you chose. <
These posts do not need to actually be made with fake accounts, you can create mock posts with clearly labeled headings to indicate which media platform you are working with.
