To prepare for this assignment, we will watch a video on the 1948 killer smog in Donora, PA. Watching this video will encourage us to delve into the impact of geography, poor air quality, and decision making by government and business. You will use stasis theory (fact, definition, value, policy) and the “five whys,” a method to track down the underlying cause of a problem. You may choose to examine contemporary situations that are comparable to the killer smog in Donora such as air pollution in Southern California, Ulan Bator, Beijing, and Tehran or indoor air pollution.
