ummation: After having thoroughly conducted your Annotated Bibliography research on your topic, if there is more you wish you could know that could be gleaned by sampling insights from people in our community, then create your own brief anonymous survey for primary research. Ask at least six productive questions of a small sample of people relevant to your survey (12 to 20); then, record and analyze the results.
Due date for Instructor Approval: Since the range of possibilities for this enrichment activity are wide, advance instructor approval of your proposed primary research is required for extra labor credit. Email me your six or more proposed survey questions before midnight on Friday of Week 8. The core requirements below will be due two weeks later.
Core Requirements:
1) Conduct a small but useful anonymous survey of 12 to 20 interviewees’ responses to at least six questions that help advance a central component of your reasoning for your Final Research Paper, especially an aspect missing from the body of academic research you have collected in your Annotated Bibliography. Most survey tools will provide a summary page, showing how many participated and how they replied; if so, turn that in here. If such is not available from your chosen survey tools, then record and synthesize all answers in a concise format and turn in your own summation of gathered responses here.
2) Write up a one-page analysis of your primary research explaining what unique insights it offered for your project and how you intend to use it in your paper. Be sure to turn in this one-page analysis along with the summarized results.
Safety & Privacy Caution: Do not attempt to collect any primary research that is at all physically, emotionally or legally risky to your subjects or yourself. For example, take care to maintain your subjects’ anonymity and do not ask questions that might invade their privacy or, otherwise, make them vulnerable.
