Jason, age 12, is frequently absent from school, and engages
in the sale of stolen property, digital piracy, fraud, identity theft, and
credit card fraud. Specifically, Jason receives computers, mobile devices,
smartwatches and other digital technilogy by using a serises of phishing scams
to access web based retail accounts of unsuspecting members of the community.
The sale of these digital devices nets a return of more than $400 a week, and
it is all done with the full knowledge of Jason’s parents on the home desktop
computer. The parents have not attempted to stop Jason. Setting aside Jason’s
crimes – what potential crime are Jason’s parents responsible for? For full
